Today, February 5, the first session of the EXPO-2020 College of Commissioners of the Steering Committee took place in Dubai, UAE. The session was attended by the First Deputy Chairman of Astana EXPO-2017 NC JSC – the Commissioner General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Allen Chaizhunussov.
The agenda was focused on the exhibition preparatory and operational period, including construction of pavilions, logistics, commercial activities, flow of visitors and its management, safety of exhibition facilities, content of the exhibition and other issues.
Previously, at the IV International Participants Meeting its participating countries voted to elect members of the Steering Committee of the College of Commissioners for EXPO 2020 Dubai. Members of the Steering Committee are elected from among the National Commissioners of BIE member states participating in the exhibition.
Following the voting, Kazakhstan was elected for the first time to the Steering Committee given its successful experience in holding the EXPO-2017 Astana International Specialized Exhibition.
The World EXPO-2020 will be hosted by Dubai from October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021 under the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”. The exhibition is expected to be visited by 25 million people. 192 countries have already confirmed their participation in the exhibition.
