On October 1, 2021, the official opening ceremony of the National Pavilion of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the EXPO-2020 World Exhibition was held in Dubai.
The opening ceremony of the Pavilion was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Arab Emirates Madiyar Menilbekov, the President of the Bureau of International Exhibitions Jai Chul Choi, as well as General Commissioners of the participating countries of the Exhibition and the leadership of the Organizing Committee of EXPO-2020.
The official delegation was given a tour of the Pavilion, which presents a journey through the past, present and future of Kazakhstan while also embodying the theme of EXPO-2020 Dubai – “Connecting minds, Creating the future”. The representatives of the delegation were impressed by the content of the Pavilion. The guests were particularly amazed by the Pre-Show, Great Steppe and Main Show areas.
Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum – Prime Minister and the Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum and the Director General of EXPO-2020 Her Excellency Reem al-Hashimi visited Kazakhstan Pavilion among the first on EXPO-2020. The high delegation visited 4 pavilions in total, including the National Pavilion of the UAE, as well as the United States and China.
As part of the Pavilion’s opening ceremony, visitors were treated with baursaks and apples brought from Kazakhstan. It should be noted that the National Pavilion of Kazakhstan became one of the most visited on the opening day of the Exhibition. The Pavilion has a line of people wishing to get acquainted with the history, culture, tourism and investment potential of Kazakhstan. The first visitors of the Pavilion were a young family couple from Dubai, Kiara Hildebrand and Sami Saeh. According to them, the atmosphere of the Pavilion captivates people from the first minute and awakens a desire to visit Kazakhstan and see its beauty first-hand.
About the National Pavilion of Kazakhstan at EXPO-2020 Dubai
The National Pavilion of the Republic of Kazakhstan is located in the thematic cluster “Opportunity” in close proximity to the pavilions of the UAE, USA, Switzerland, Austria, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, China, Japan, India and the Republic of Belarus.
The image of the Kazakhstan Pavilion is inspired by traditional Eastern architecture and represents a synthesis of modern digital solutions and traditions while symbolizing the openness of Kazakhstan. The exhibition content of the pavilion features the dynamic development, cultural diversity and human and natural resources of the country as well as its tourism, technological and investment opportunities.
The restaurant section of the Pavilion contains a high national cuisine restaurant Qazaq Gourmet as well as a souvenir shop where visitors can taste unique Kazakh dishes and buy authentic souvenirs and memorabilia.
About the history of participation of Kazakhstan in EXPO exhibitions
Kazakhstan has been a member of the International Bureau of Exhibitions since 1997 and has participated in EXPO exhibitions since 1998 (EXPO Lisbon 1998). Kazakhstan’s participation in international and world EXPO events is characterized by a presentation of wide ranges of exhibition topics and interesting exposition content detailing the rich culture of the country. Kazakhstan’s pavilions received awards at the exhibitions EXPO 2008 Zaragoza and EXPO 2015 Milan. In 2017 Kazakhstan held the International specialized exhibition Astana EXPO-2017 on the theme “Future Energy”.
World International Exhibitions have been held since 1851 and are the world’s largest platforms for presenting the latest achievements and technologies. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Expo has been rescheduled for 1 year and will currently take place from the 1st of October 2021 to the 31st of March 2022. This is the first world exhibition to be held in the Middle East. The next world exhibition “EXPO-2025” will be hosted by the city of Osaka, Japan.
About the World Expo 2020 Dubai
The World Expo 2020 will be held in Dubai (UAE) from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 and will be one of the first global mega-events since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
EXPO-2020 Dubai is the largest venue for the demonstration of human progress and serves as a link between governments, companies, international organizations and citizens. The theme of the Exhibition consists of three sub-themes: “opportunity,” “mobility,” and “sustainable development.”
