October 3, 2021, within the EXPO 2020 Dubai World Exhibition, a series of business events Kazakhstan Green Day was held in the National Pavilion of the Republic of Kazakhstan organized by “International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects” Non-Profit Joint Stock Company. Within Kazakhstan Green Day, a number of issues concerning the regional environmental risk management system, the introduction of the best available technologies (BAT), as well as greenhouse gas management were discussed.
The event was held both offline and online. Panel sessions attended by speakers and delegates were held in the business lounge of the Pavilion of Kazakhstan. Experts from different countries joined the event via videoconference.
The business event was opened by the Director General of the Dubai Electricity and Water Supply Authority (DEWA) By His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Thayer. The event participants were greeted by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UAE – Mr. M. Menilbekov and Chairman of the Board of Association of Environmental Organizations of Kazakhstan – Ms. A. Solovieva.
The speakers were key international and national experts, representatives of such organizations as the European Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Bureau, the Bureau of Best Available Technologies of the Russian Federation, the European Union Project – Central Asia: cooperation in the field of water Resources, Environment and Climate Change (WECOOP), Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC), French Technical Center for Air Pollution Citepa and many others.
The main discussion were on the Green Bridge Partnership Program and the Regional Environmental Risk Management System as a mechanism for the green technologies transfer. The experience of the European Union and the Russian Federation on BAT introduction was discussed. Within the third panel session, the problems of low-carbon development and achieving transparency of actons in the field of greenhouse gas management were considered.
At the end of the event, the problems of introduction and development of BAT were discussed together with representatives of the largest industrial companies in Kazakhstan (KEGOC JSC, Samruk-Energo JSC, ERG, NC KazMunayGas JSC, ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC, Kazminerals, Kazakhmys). The participants highly appreciated the work carried out by International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects on the development of BAT reference books in key industries.
