On December 17-19, the “Days of Almaty city” were held at the National Pavilion of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the World Exhibition EXPO 2020 Dubai.
Within the framework of the event, a large-scale conference on the investment and tourism potential of Almaty with participation of representatives of UAE government agencies and business community, air carriers and tour operators was held. More than 50 major UAE companies, represented by owners and top management attended the event “Day of Almaty city”. As a result of negotiations with leading tourism partners, 5 memorandums were signed to host more than 20 thousand tourists-travelers in the amount of 12 billion tenge approximately, which demonstrates a great success for development of inbound tourism in Kazakhstan.
Guests of the exhibition and pavilion visitors got acquainted with creative projects representing contemporary art and colorful culture of the southern capital. An installation with apples, symbolizing Almaty city generated an increased interest, about 200 foreign guests took part in the competition with drawing a lottery ticket to Almaty.
Among the presented projects, a special place was devoted to an interactive art installation of the author Ms. Nargiz Magayeva “EMPATH” – a huge structure in the form of a man, representing the Faith in People. Visitors’ attention was also attracted by incredible work of the young Kazakh artist Alpamys Batyrov, who presented the project “Almaty 2.0”. The project concept is to create a mapping projection from elements demonstrating the sights of Almaty in a new light, by using modern and traditional media.
As part of the cultural program, the Kazakhstan Pavilion was visited by representatives of international media and artists. Activities and events during the “Days of Almaty city” were widely covered by the international media, such as “Russian Emirates”, Life Report, Fine Art Publicity, Art Rabbit, “Arabian Journal”, Gulf Today.
Arab bloggers, musicians, artists and guests gave their enthusiastic reviews on the conducted events.

Holding of “Days of Almaty city” at the EXPO 2020 Dubai enabled to present the investment and tourism potential of Almaty and establish long-term relationships with the well-known major companies in the tourism industry.
