A presentation of the book “Kazakhstan Kustary: Dalalyk Anyktagysh” was recently held at the Museum of Future Energy. This book is the Kazakh edition of the “Guide to Birds of Kazakhstan” published by the Union for the Protection of Birds of Kazakhstan in 2014.
Kazakhstan is home to over 500 species of birds, inhabiting various landscape zones such as steppes, forests, mountains, and deserts. This diverse range of natural habitats allows for the presence of incredible birds like flamingos, Houbara bustards, black larks, pelicans, Pallas’s sandgrouse, ibex, paradise flycatcher, and many others. Seeing these birds in their natural environment is a dream come true for bird enthusiasts. Every year, birdwatchers from around the world visit Kazakhstan for the opportunity to photograph rare bird species.
The authors of the book are professional ornithologists who have dedicated decades to studying the birds of Kazakhstan. Anatoly Kovshar, Victoria Kovshar, Nikolay Berezovikov, and Vadim Ryabitsev, who is also the illustrator of the book, have contributed their expertise. The translation was expertly done by renowned zoologists and authors of zoology textbooks in the Kazakh language, Birlikbay Eszhanov and Kylyshbay Musabekov.
This book serves as a valuable guide for ornithologists and bird lovers, aiding in the identification of bird species in their natural habitats. Each bird species is accompanied by detailed drawings, distribution maps, and comprehensive descriptions.
In conjunction with the book presentation, National Geographic Qazaqstan magazine unveiled a captivating photo exhibition titled “Birds of Kazakhstan.” The exhibition showcases the exceptional work of professional photographers who have captured the diverse avian population of Kazakhstan. Visitors can immerse themselves in stunning photographs that highlight the beauty and biodiversity of the local fauna, while also gaining insight into the importance of preserving biological diversity. The exhibition will be on display until June 15, 2024, inclusive.
