From July to the end of September, a unique space for leisure of guests and residents of the city of Nur-Sultan is organized on the territory of EXPO business district, at the foot of the main attraction of the capital, NUR ALEM Museum of Future Energy. It hosts exhibitions of famous domestic and foreign artists, sculptors and photographers, live performances of musicians, as well as libraries, photo zones and an alley of flowers.
The project coincided with the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence is being implemented by NC QazExpoCongress JSC and Eurasian Cultural Alliance.
The works of art exhibited at EXPO business district emphasize the unique creative atmosphere of the territory, turning it into a modern open-air gallery.
EXPO creative space includes 5 permanent and 7 temporary creations of famous Kazakhstani and foreign artists, such as Said Atabekov, Arystanbek Shalbayev, Moldakul Narymbetov, Murat Dilmanov, Valery Kazas and Andrey Lyublinsky, as well as a number of interactive facilities.
12 original works of contemporary art are placed on the territory, taking into account pedestrian flows, the architecture of the place and the context in which the works are exhibited. They also complement the 4 existing sculptures by artists such as Saken Narynov (“In Time and Space”,” Magic of Energy”), Mark Fornes (“Minima/Maxima”) and Andrew Rogers (“Unfolding Energy”), forming one of the largest unique sculpture parks in Central Asia. Thus, the works of international artists are in dialogue with Kazakhstani authors and jointly form a new communication between different cultures, reviving EXPO territory. An important criterion of art in public spaces is its accessibility – everyone can get in touch with the author’s idea for free cost and at any time, having the opportunity to interact with art.
It is worth noting that in addition to the sculptural ensemble, various performances of street musicians are held on weekly basis on the EXPO territory as well as two interactive libraries with a large selection of art and modern literature are open.
Since summer activities are carried out in the conditions of a pandemic, much attention was paid to taking care of the health of all visitors. All necessary security measures are being observed at the events, including social distancing, the use of personal protective equipment, disinfection of premises, as well as the admission of visitors through “ASHYQ” application.
